BAE Systems to Refit USS Porter and USS Laboon

BAE Systems continues to serve the U.S. Navy as a leading provider of ship repair, maintenance and modernization services.

Their Norfolk, Virginia shipyard recently secured new contracts, worth a total of nearly $100 million, to work on two destroyers, the USS Porter (DDG 78) and the USS Laboon (DDG 58). The Laboon is due for a series of routine updates and improvements to the ship’s military and technical capabilities. The Porter will receive more extensive repairs over the next several months, as a result of its collision with a Japanese oil tanker last summer.

BAE Systems, Inc. is a leading provider of non-nuclear ship repairs, modernization, conversion, and overhaul for government and commercial customers. It has six fully equipped facilities across the United States, in Norfolk, Virginia; San Diego and San Francisco, California; Jacksonville, Florida; Mobile, Alabama; and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
