USA: DOE Announces RFI on Offshore Wind

U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Wind and Water Power Program has announced a Request for Information (RFI) on offshore wind energy and marine and hydrokinetic (MHK) resources to support deployment of offshore wind and MHK technologies.

The purpose of this RFI is to gain input from industry, academia, local, state, and federal government agencies and other stakeholders that can be used to help inform future strategic considerations and inform the Program’s research and development portfolio.

For offshore wind, the Program is seeking comments regarding research and observation activities and partnerships for offshore wind energy resource characterization to complement, augment or expand upon ongoing and planned offshore wind meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) data activities.

For MHK, the Program is seeking comments on the advancement of wave and tidal resource characterization and data gathering for characterization of far-field hydrological and wave environment interactions with MHK energy devices.
