USA: DOE to Answer Wind Energy Questions during Google+ Hangout

On Thursday, August 8, at 3 p.m. ET, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) invites public to discuss the innovative projects, technologies, and policies that are helping America stay competitive in this booming global industry during a special Google+ Hangout on wind energy in America.

During the Hangout, those interested will have the opportunity to ask experts from across the industry anything they want about the wind industry—from the status of offshore wind projects to projections for industry growth to the logistics for setting up their own small turbine to power their homes. For the first time ever, DOE is also giving people the opportunity to join its Hangout on Air live and ask their wind energy questions directly to its  panelists.

DOE’s expert panelists for the August 8 discussion include:

  • Jose Zayas, Director of the Energy Department’s Wind and Water Power Technologies Office
Jose will be answering questions about the Energy Department’s efforts to support America’s leadership in manufacturing and deploying wind energy technologies—both on-land and offshore.
  • Ryan Wiser, Staff Scientist, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab
Ryan will be answering  questions about the latest trends in the U.S. wind power market as well as projections for future growth of the industry.
  • Mike Bergey, President Bergey Windpower
Mike will be answering questions about the distributed wind market and using wind energy to power homes and small businesses.
