USA: fears raised over dredge effects on York’s Long Sands Beach

YORK, Maine —The Army Corps of Engineers plans to dredge the Piscataqua River in Eliot, Maine, where tankers turn, according to Robert Green, an environmental specialist with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection in Portland. The Army Corps has applied to the DEP to move an estimated 100,000 to 250,000 cubic yards of the material off Long Sands Beach.
