USA: IHC Merwede Showcases Its Products at OTC Houston 2012

IHC Merwede will exhibit a broad range of its innovative vessels, advanced equipment and lifecycle support activities on stand number 2625 at the forthcoming Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2012, which runs from 30 April to 3 May in Houston, USA.

As a reliable supplier of custom-built vessels and equipment for the offshore market, IHC Merwede is renowned for focussing on the development of innovative and integrated solutions, as highlighted by its position as “the technology innovator”. To underline this position a model will be shown of the two identical new 550-tonne pipelaying vessels that IHC Merwede is building for SapuraCrest. IHC Engineering Business and IHC Drives & Automation are supplying and engineering the critical mission equipment for these vessels.

IHC Offshore & Marine Director Sales & Marketing Twan Voogt says: “IHC Merwede provides a unique proposition to our customers in the offshore market. We are able to design, engineer and build innovative vessels and mission equipment, and deliver a turnkey solution.

“Working closely together with our customers – and other IHC Merwede business units – results in a system that is fully optimised to meet their requirements and is not constrained by the separation of vessel and equipment suppliers. This is what makes us a reliable partner for efficient offshore solutions.”

Other IHC Merwede business units will show examples of advanced equipment, including: IHC Sea Steel with a fully operational model of a 96″ Fast Frame; IHC Handling Systems with an internal lifting tool; and IHC Hydrohammer® with a model of the IHC Hydrohammer® S-150. The company’s innovative characteristics may also be evidenced by its participation in the Technical Programme, during which it will take the opportunity to present four informative papers:

* Subsea Minerals Sampling – By IHC Marine and Mineral Projects

* A Linear Rock Cutting Test Setup for 3D Tests Under Hyperbaric Pressure – By IHC Mining

* Flow Assurance of Vertical Solid-Liquid Two-Phase Riser Flow During Deep-sea Mining – By MTI Holland and Delft University of Technology

* Offshore Pipeline Trenching in Arctic Regions: Maintaining Asset Integrity Under Extreme Ice Conditions – By IHC OTI and Shell
