Kvichak Marine Lands Contract to Build Two Pilot Vessels

Kvichak Marine Industries recently secured a contract to build two 50’ x 15.5’ pilot vessels. The vessels were ordered for the Crescent River Port Pilots (CRPPA) of Louisiana.

The vessels will be all-aluminium and powered by twin Detroit Diesel 60 series engines, rated for 600 BHP coupled to Twin Disc MG5114SC marine gears. Hamilton 364 waterjets are the chosen propulsors. The combination allows an excellent maneuverability and a top speed of approx 32 knots. These vessels are equipped with a Wing Hybrid fendering system and a roof boarding platform specifically designed for the CRPPA.

Delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for May 2012 and the second one in September 2012.

For 30 years, Kvichak Marine has been recognized as a worldwide leader in the design and construction of high quality, hardworking aluminum vessels. Kvichak vessels are on the job and meeting the rigorous demands of the sea everyday. Whether it is fisheries patrol or firefighting; transporting passengers or transporting pilots — Kvichak constructs vessels that have been proven reliable and durable on any mission.
