Linde, EQT Corporation Team Up for LNG Solutions in O&G Industry

Linde North America’s solution for using liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fuel engines and power generators is being tested in West Virginia by EQT Corporation, an energy company focused on natural gas production, transmission and distribution.

“We are pleased to be working with EQT to demonstrate the safe, reliable and cost-effective use of LNG in dual-fuel rig applications,” said Bryan Luftglass, head of Strategic Market and Business Development for Linde Energy Solutions. “The execution of this field deployment has gone well and continues to validate the promise of a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly fuel.”

David Ross, Director of Business Development for EQT Corporation, said, “We chose Linde as a partner for our pilot program because of its excellent safety record and long-standing expertise in the industrial gas business.”

Looking ahead at the market demand for such a solution, Linde North America’s Energy Solutions unit has developed a joint marketing agreement with American Power Group (APG). Under the agreement, Linde provides expertise in the supply, production, logistics and on-site application of LNG and other cryogens. APG provides a patented dual-fuel technology that converts diesel engines to run on an average of 40 to 60 percent natural gas.

“The beauty of partnering with APG is that together we provide a complete solution,” said Michelle Vargo, Linde North America’s LNG Technology & Market Development manager. “APG can convert diesel engines ahead of their deployment and we provide the fuel, using modular and portable fueling equipment, so everything can be quickly moved by truck as rigs are redeployed.”
