USA: Magnolia LNG Receives FERC Pre-Filing Approval

Magnolia LNG Receives FERC Pre-Filing Approval

Liquefied Natural Gas Limited announced that the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved Magnolia LNG, LLC’s request to commence the pre-filing review process, in relation it’s Magnolia LNG Project.

The FERC approval follows Magnolia’s request for pre-filing, as announced on 14 March 2013.

FERC is the lead federal agency in the preparation of the required Environmental Impact Statement for each LNG project and related gas pipelines. The FERC review process is to ensure approved LNG projects, and associated gas pipelines and LNG ship traffic, meet all safety and environmental requirements during construction and operation.

The FERC pre-filing process is an interactive program, over a minimum period of 6 months, and includes FERC, other federal agencies, other stakeholders, community groups and the LNG project owner. It is a critical step in the development of the Magnolia LNG Project as it establishes the earliest date that the formal approval application may be submitted to FERC.

The United States LNG project approval process is very public, with full transparency.
