Northwest Tennessee Regional Port Officials Tour Cates Landing

According to nwtntoday.com, the Northwest Tennessee Regional Port Authority met early Wednesday under a tent at Cates Landing to get a first-hand look at the work being done on the Mississippi River port.

The new port is scheduled to be open for business within the next five months.

The location of the July meeting of the port authority was moved to the large white tent near the entrance to the port site.

Nwtntoday.com reports that during the meeting, port legal counsel John Lannom was the bearer of good news for the port authority with updates on the status of a state grant and the status of the port’s Foreign Trade Zone application.

Port authority chairman Jimmy Williamson announced at the meeting that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is expected to arrive at the port site within the next two weeks to work on dredging the harbor.
