USA: O&G Industry Professionals Receive Top Awards at Deepwater Operations Conference

Two offshore oil and gas industry professionals received top awards for their technical presentations at the Deepwater Operations Conference & Exhibition held at the Moody Gardens Hotel and Convention Center in Galveston recently.

The awards are given for the best presenter and best presentation among all of the speakers at the conference, held November 1 – 3, 2011.

The award for Best Presenter went to Mike Stark, Director, Offshore Pipelines, for Enterprise Products Partners. His presentation, “Anaconda Pipeline Extension Project,” covered the newly installed Anaconda Pipeline Extension, providing an overview of the solution and operations undertaken over 2 1/2 years to reestablish and extend the deepwater Anaconda Gas Export System after Hurricane Ike’s damage to shelf platform infrastructure.

Mike Stark is the Director, Offshore Pipelines for Enterprise Products Partners. Mr. Stark has overall responsibility for the company’s offshore pipelines and facilities installations, including the Anaconda Gas System. Mr. Stark has 38 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas construction and subsea industry.

The award for Best Presentation went to Tony Owen, of Helix Energy Solutions, for his presentation on “Emerging Technical Developments in Deepwater Operations.” The presentation discussed the techniques executed in the four major elements of the Helix Producer 1 Project Development — subsea, DTS, dynamic positioning, and production systems. It outlined the constructability and integration features of each and the operational aspects as they apply to a marginal deepwater field development.

Tony Owen attended Nichols State University and has 27 years offshore production industry experience. He has focused on emerging technologies while serving in leadership capacities on six major deepwater projects since 1998. His professional production and marine operation experience is centered on deepwater conception, designs, fabrication, integration, and installation and testing techniques.
