USA: Town of Evans Authorizes Contract for Marina Dredging

The Town of Evans has hired an excavating company to dredge the Sturgeon Point Marina, reports buffalonews.com.

The Town Board authorized the contract at its meeting this week.

Each winter and spring, the waves deposit sand and silt in the marina, forcing the town to dredge the boat basin before the start of the season, town officials explained.

The town does have its own machinery to dredge the marina, but it’s “antiquated and doesn’t do a complete job,” Supervisor Keith E. Dash said. The town also doesn’t have the funds to purchase new equipment, Dash added, requiring it to hire a contractor.
