‘Valiant Energy’ OSV supports drilling in Greece

Offshore supply ship “Valiant Energy” will support Energean Oil & Gas’ new 160 million euro investment program in the Gulf of Kavala, offshore Greece.

The ship arrived at the Port of Kavala, on Friday, May the 2nd where a reception ceremony took place attended by local political and religious authorities, Energean Oil and Gas’s and Kavala Oil’s board members and executives, as well as many citizens, Energean said in a release.

Energean Oil & Gas Chairman and CEO Mathios Rigas said: “Today is a very significant day both for our company and for the city of Kavala. The arrival of “Valiant Energy” initiates our new investment program which consists of the construction of two new platforms in the Epsilon and Prinos North oil fields, followed by the drilling of new wells. The program aims at increasing production and it will be announced shortly.

The Valiant Energy vessel will support all drilling activities of the company in Kavala. Moreover, the vessel will contribute substantially to the local port and fire prevention authorities’ handling of any fire incidents at the port of Kavala’s, while also reinforcing marine safety standards in Kavala and Thassos Island, as it can carry out rescue operations and transportation in harsh conditions.

In addition, Valiant Energy can be used in anti-pollution operations, as well as assist the cruise ships which visit Kavala during the tourist season. Energean Oil & Gas philosophy which holds that oil & gas industry is compatible with the most demanding environmental conditions and with tourist activities is proven once more.

Vessel specs

“Valiant Energy”, which was constructed in Norway according to DNV’s standards and has participated in oil & gas activities in the North Sea, is the first supply ship of this size and standard ever to arrive in Greece. It is 62,5 meters long and it carries modern fire-fighting systems (FF3 water, FF2 foam) and can pump 7,500 cubic meters of water per hour.

It is able to support any drilling program (supply and carry platforms, equipment and material transportation to platforms and to jack – ups etc.) and participate in anti-pollution and rescue operations as well, as it can collect and treat 155 persons on board. “Valiant Energy” has a DWT of 1,800 tons and a crew of 22 persons.
