VBMS Scores Gemini Cabling Deal
VBMS will assist Van Oord with the export cable installation for the Gemini Offshore Wind Farm, located in the Dutch part of the North Sea, the cabling specialist company announced today.
Arno van Poppel, the company’s CEO, said: “After our successful cooperation for the Eneco Luchterduinen OWF last year, we are very pleased to install this export cable for Van Oord and contribute to one of the most productive offshore wind farms in the world.”
The scope of work includes the installation of 2 cable sections with a total length of 11 km in the transition area between the shallow and deep water sections on the route, for which the company will mobilise its Stemat Spirit cable layer in mid-March 2015.
The Stemat Spirit is suited for this particular job as she is capable of working on anchors in the shallow part of the route as well as transforming to dynamic positioning for operations farther offshore.
