Besiktas Shipyard informed it has launched the M/T Mia Desgagnés, an LNG-fueled chemical tanker being built for the Quebec-based Transport Desgagnes.

The launching of the IMO-II chemical tanker propelled by dual-fuel engines, allowing the use of LNG, marine diesel oil or heavy fuel oil, has been completed on Saturday, December 10, the shipyard said in a brief statement on its social media channels.

Transport Desgagnés, a unit of Groupe Desgagnés, ordered two LNG-fueled tankers at Besiktas. The first vessel, the asphalt/product tanker M/T Damia Desgagnés was launched in June, and delivered to its owner in September.

The tankers will have two 300-cbm Type C LNG tanks on the deck powering the dual-fuel ME 5RT Flex 50 DF main engine and two 6L20DF engines and one 8L20DF auxiliary engine and two 3000 kW boilers.

Both vessels will be classed by the Bureau Veritas classification society.
