Dredging Starts in South Haven Channel

The Army Corps of Engineers has commenced dredging operations in South Haven Channel.

The dredging will take place in the Lake Michigan approach and between the pierheads near the Lighthouse. Dredge spoil will be placed south of South Beach as a beach replenishment process.

The project is a hydraulic dredging operation. There will be pipe extended through the channel dredging area, which may be floating or suspended under water. Pipe will be extended from the dredging area to a beach replenishment area south of South Beach.

This work is expected to be completed by the end of September.
