VIDEO: First Look at New Torben Spirit

The video above shows the Torben Spirit, the third of eleven LNG newbuilding vessels powered by M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (MEGI) twin engines being built for Teekay LNG Partners in South Korea.

The 173,000 cbm Torben Spirit is currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2017. Earlier this month, the company said it has been considering an option to push the delivery of this newbuilding from February 2017 to Ocrober 2017.

Two of eleven LNG MEGI newbuildings, the Creole Spirit and the Oak Spirit, already joined Teekay’s fleet.

Seven more vessels are being built at DSME – including the Torben Spirit.

According to Teekay, two additional LNG MEGI newbuildings will be built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard.
