VIDEO: Hydrotesting of tanks complete at Swinoujscie LNG

Polskie LNG, the Świnoujście LNG project investor, said it has completed the hydrotesting of the two LNG storage tanks at the terminal.

According to Maciej Mazur, Polskie LNG’s corporate communications director, testing on both storage tanks was completed successfully, with both structures holding the earlier designed parameters under a load of 100,000 metric tons.

Each tank was tested over a period of two weeks with water levels rising about two meters per day with the total height of water in the tanks reaching 22 meters or about 60% of the nominal capacity. This is due to the fact that water is heavier than LNG, stands in the Polskie LNG statement.

Upon completion of the tests, tanks were drained and cleaned thoroughly.

The following short video gives an insight into the testing process.
