VIDEO Update: San Jacinto River Dredging Moves Ahead

HTV Houston Television, with its mission to effectively communicate relevant information concerning municipal and related governmental and community services, has just released a very interesting video update about ongoing  San Jacinto River dredging program.

This emergency cleanup program was awarded to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD) on July 6, 2018 and covers about two miles of the West Fork of the San Jacinto River.

In the video, Councilman Dave Martin speaks with the contractors about pulling out debris from the San Jacinto River, all the way to Lake Houston.

At the moment, the West Fork of the San Jacinto River Emergency Debris Removal Project reached 45 percent completion, USACE said in their latest announcement.

Two dredges have removed a combined total of approximately 800,000 cubic yards of material to date, and nearly 300 tons of debris such as trees, etc.

Dredging is expected to be finished in May this year, said USACE.
