VIDEO: ‘World’s largest semi-sub’ floats off

INPEX Corporation on Tuesday published a video that shows a launch of its Ichthys Project central processing facility (CPF) from the offshore floating dock at the Samsung Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Geoje, South Korea.

The INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project launched the CPF on September 19, 2015, claiming it to be the world’s largest semi-submersible.

The construction began in January 2013 and once completed, the CPF will be towed 5600 kilometers to the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin, offshore Western Australia, where it will be permanently moored for the life of the project—more than 40 years.
