Viking SeaTech Wins Shell, Santos Contracts, Australia

Viking SeaTech has announced two large contracts wins with Shell and Santos in Australia which means the company now works with all major operators in Australia.

The services agreements are in collaboration with Shell Development Pty Ltd, and Santos, one of Australia’s largest oil and gas exploration and production companies. Viking SeaTech will work in conjunction with Shell for the next three years, with options for two further one year extensions. Similarly, the initial deal with Santos will be for two years and three months including the opportunity to continue the partnership for three additional one year periods.

The Santos services agreement is for the provision of personnel, engineering and mooring equipment and services in Australia the company might be drilling, with Viking SeaTech anticipating the majority of work will take place off Australia’s North West Shelf.

In addition to the Shell and Santos contracts, Chris Forde, Viking SeaTech’s Regional Managing Director Asia Pacific says they are about to sign additional purchase orders for large projects over the next few weeks with operators with whom they are already working with.

Most importantly, clients know we can provide everything they need in such a remote part of the world as we have a large amount of equipment in the region, particularly at our Karratha base. It’s very exciting to find ourselves at the forefront of developments that will secure the energy future of Australia and other parts of the globe.”

Congratulating Viking SeaTech on the latest contract awards, Kevin Skipworth, head of the Western Australian Government’s London office, cited them as an example of a global company that has recognised the huge business potential currently available to the oil and gas service support sector in and offshore Western Australia.

“The commitment and investment Viking SeaTech has made in Western Australia, particularly in terms of heavy plant and equipment deployed in support of its activities, is impressive and accords with the State Government’s objectives of attracting international investment and industry expertise to help broaden the State’s manufacturing and service support base. In a relatively short period, the company has managed to win contract awards with all the major operators in the region and have established themselves as a key player in the offshore sector in Western Australia.”
