Wärtsilä Gets ‘Excellent Partner 2013’ Award from SHI (South Korea)

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) of Korea, one of the world’s leading shipbuilding companies, has recognised Wärtsilä’s contribution as a provider of high quality solutions and support by giving Wärtsilä its ‘Excellent Partner 2013’ award.

A number of different suppliers to SHI were considered for the award, which is given in recognition of excellent performance in delivering high quality products and solutions on time, with complementary world class engineering, documentation, project management and commissioning services, as well as for providing support throughout the projects.

In deciding the winner of this award, the purchasing team at SHI took into consideration companies that had supplied or co-operated with SHI during the period ranging from the beginning of July 2012 to the end of March 2013. During this time frame, Wärtsilä had worked closely with SHI on various projects, including the supply of equipment for a Floating Storage Unit and several drillship projects. The award recognized Wärtsilä’s assistance, support and level of response during these projects, the positive feedback from different SHI departments, in particular the Quality Department, and the excellent business attitude shown by Wärtsilä in its dealings with the company.

At the award ceremony, Mr J.H. Lee, General Manager, Mr W.Y. Park, Senior Manager, and Mr H.S. Min, Manager at SHI Purchasing complimented Wärtsilä and its employees on the level of service it is capable of providing, and congratulated the company and its employees for its achievements that led to this award. “Samsung hopes to further enhance its business relationship with Wärtsilä during the years to come,” commented Mr Lee.

“This is an award for which we can take special pride. It represents recognition of our ability to create value for our clients, and showcases our vision of striving always to be ‘the most valued business partner’ to our customers,” says Mr Aaron Bresnahan, Vice President Sales, Wärtsilä Ship Power.

Wärtsilä has worked closely with SHI on shipbuilding projects for many years. In 2010, both companies signed a co-operation agreement to develop gas fuelled merchant vessels.
