WBDDP Team Helps Cancer Research

More than $500 was raised for cancer research by Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) Western Basin Dredging and Disposal Project (WBDDP) team in Gladstone today.

The money raised was part of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea celebrations with funds raised contributing to vital cancer research, prevention and support services.

Funds raised will go to help beat cancer. Just $5 can help support a newly diagnosed patient while $500 can help fund ground-breaking research into better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

These breakthroughs aim to reverse the alarming statistic that one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85.

WBDDP manager Peter O’Sullivan said just about everyone from every walk of life is at some time touched by cancer whether it be themselves or someone they know.

“The WBDDP team is proud to be a part of such a great event by contributing to cancer research, prevention and support services,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

“By getting involved the WBDDP team shows their support for the estimated 110,000 people who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.”
