Welltec Completes Clean-Out Job for Operator on Norwegian Continental Shelf

Continuing on the path of success, Welltec has recently completed another excellent clean-out job for a major operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

A well was experiencing problems with fill all the way up to surface of a popular resin often used instead of cement. Welltec quickly mobilized the Well Cleaner PST and Well Miller RCB to the well site.

The strategy was to activate the Well Cleaner PST just below the christmas tree and to run the Well Miller RCB in between the cleaning runs in order to im¬prove the effect of the operation by providing circulation and loosening the hard pieces close to the walls.

Over 13 runs, approximately 344 ft. of progress was achieved. On the last run, the Well Miller RCB broke through at 698 ft. and ran freely down to 1,000 ft. A drift was then performed, which demonstrated that the well was completely clean.

The successful intervention enabled the operator to continue with the planned operation while saving over $18 million in cost savings and deferred production compared to using coiled tubing. In addition, Welltec’s solution involved less personnel and less equipment to be mobilized.
