West Somerset Tidal Lagoon details submitted to Planning Inspectorate

Longbay Seapower has notified the Planning Inspectorate of an intended application for the the West Somerset Tidal Lagoon.

LongBay SeaPower aims to harness the natural resources of the Bristol Channel to generate electricity.

The West Somerset Lagoon is the construction of a continuous breakwater wall, spanning from Culvercliff in Minehead to Blue Ben Point at West Quantoxhead.

The wall would be approximately 21 km long, forming a lagoon covering 72 square kilometres. The worth of the project amounts to GBP 2.4 billion.

The proposed tidal lagoon would have generating capacity of 2.8 GW per year.

The application is expected to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate Quater 2 2018.
