WGP Group Gets New Chairman

Thalassa Holdings informed that Francis Smulders has been appointed non-executive chairman of the company’s wholly owned subsidiary WGP Group, with effect from 1 June 2016.

WGP is a marine geophysical services company delivering technologies and services to upstream oil and gas industry.

Smulders was appointed to the board of Thalassa on June 21, 2013, a position he will continue to hold. In his new role, Smulders will provide strategic guidance and leadership to the WGP executive management team.

Thalassa’ chairman, Duncan Soukup, commented: “I am delighted that Francis has accepted the role of non-executive chairman of WGP Group. He has brought a wealth of experience in his position at Thalassa, which I am sure will be translated into success in this new role for WGP. I intend to remain on the board of WGP Group to support Francis as he assumes his new responsibilities and also to continue representing the interests of Thalassa’s shareholders.”

The WGP Group was originally established in 1994 and, as of 2011, WGP Exploration became a wholly owned subsidiary of Thalassa Holdings and has grown into the new group of companies that we see today.
