Wisdom Marine Orders Bulk Carrier Duo in Japan

Taiwan’s shipping company Wisdom Marine Lines has placed an order for two Ultramax bulk carriers at Japanese shipyard Imabari Shipbuilding, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The two ECO bulkers, which would feature 63,000 dwt, are scheduled to join their new owner in 2019.

The company ordered the vessels under a contract valued at USD 48 million, paying some USD 24 million for each ship.

In June, Wisdom Marine Lines decided to enter the tanker shipping market as it ordered two 115,000 dwt oil tankers from Japanese shipbuilder Japan Marine United (JMU).

Valued at around USD 100 million, the two tankers are expected to be delivered in 2018.

The company operates a fleet of 106 vessels, including Handy, Panamax, Supramax, and Cape vessels, and has up to 30 newbuildings on order at various yards, VesselsValue data shows.
