Woodside Energy has awarded industrial technology company Tracerco with a multi-million contract for the delivery of profiler technology to the Scarborough gas field located off the West Coast of Australia.

Under the contract, Tracerco will deliver several hundred Profiler TGAs that will support the Woodside Energy business in its energy transition from fossil fuel reliance and support those countries lacking access to affordable and reliable energy.

According to the company, the Profiler TGA is specifically designed to measure the vertical distribution of multiple interfaces in real-time and at high resolution and reduces the possibility of acid runaway, increases production throughput, whilst optimizing acid recirculation.

Tracerco previously delivered Profiler TGA’s to the Pluto 2 terminal on the Scarborough gas field which receives gas directly from the field.

“Being awarded a contract win of this value – and on a project we have already worked on, previously providing the same instrumentation is testimony to the capabilities of our nucleonic instruments offer,” said Graham Barker, Global Product and Service Delivery Manager at Tracerco.

“We are delighted to support Woodside Energy on its journey to becoming a greener company. To date we have provided 720 Profilers and already 187 of these, approximately 25%, have been deployed on their floating installations.”

The development of the Scarborough field, estimated to contain 11.1 trillion cubic feet of dry gas, will feature up to 13 subsea production wells to be tied back to a floating platform moored in 900 meters depth of water.

Woodside and its partner BHP Petroleum made the final investment decision to proceed with the Scarborough project back in November 2021.

The joint venture received key primary approvals from the Commonwealth-Western Australian Joint Authority this April to support the execution of the project.
