Woodside to process LNG waste at Contract Resource’s plant

Australia’s industrial services provider, Contract Resources, signed a seven-year contract with Woodside Energy for the utilization of the Karratha LNG waste processing facility.

Under the agreement, Woodside will utilize the facility to process spent catalyst and hazardous waste by-products which are removed from the oil and gas production stream process.

Contract Resources said its secure storage, processing and purification facility will be the first of its kind in Australia, and construction is expected to commence shortly.

Construction of the plant is expected to be completed in early 2018 and plant operations begin immediately after with the processing of Woodside’s materials.

Contract Resources’ executive officer, Ivor Ferguson, said the new facility will enable LNG waste materials to be processed locally.
