ZEABORN on Order Spree

A new German shipping company ZEABORN GmbH & Co. KG (ZEABORN) confirmed an order for ten multi-purpose vessels (MMPs) at Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering from China.

The 12,500-dwt units will be delivered in three-month intervals starting from the fourth quarter of 2015.

The heavy-lift cargo vessels are based on a modern economic design, which is 145 metre-long and and 23 metre– wide. Furthermore, the vessels will be equipped with two tower slewing cranes, each having a lifting capacity of 250 t. At a cruising speed of 15.1 knots, the expected fuel oil consumption is 15.9 t.

Neither the financial terms of the contract nor the possible options included in the contract have been revealed.

The company’s official sad that their aim is to establish a market-relevant fleet, reaching critical mass in terms of size via their newbuild programmes, suitable existing vessels as well as chartered MPP vessels.
