Macduff Shipyard Receives Order for Another Harbour Tug

In August 2012, Macduff Shipyard received another order from John Mcloughlin & Son, Belfast for a repeat of the 16m tug named Sally Mcloughlin.

Designed by Macduff Ship Design, such has been the success of the “Sally Mcloughlin” since entering service in 2009 that the owners had no hesitation in ordering an exact repeat.

The 16 m General Purpose Harbour Tug, designed for towing, pushing, pilotage, plough dredging, surveying and lifting. The hull and wheelhouse of steel construction with a transom stern and raked soft nose stem, twin screw with a centre skeg aft. Layout from forward, forepeak ballast tank, crew room with toilet space, engineroom and steering gear compartment/store. On deck the wheelhouse is forward of amidships, and the vessel is arranged with 2 winches, a deck crane, a towing hook and a portable aft gantry for lifting the plough dredge. Deck edge fendering, by Sovereign Rubber, is supplemented with tyre fenders.
