Imabari Bags Handysize Bulk Carrier

Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has entered into an agreement with Regina Bulkship S.A. a subsidiary of Uni-Asia Shipping Limited, to build a 37,000 dwt bulk carrier.

Under the agreement, the new vessel will cost around $25 million and is scheduled for delivery around 1Q2015.

The 37,000 dwt vessel is a next-generation small handy size bulk carrier developed on the basis of a very popular “IMABARI28” model.

Some of the main characteristics of the ship include box-shaped holds with top-side-tanks, suitable for efficient transportation of steel products including pipes and plates. Also, the vessel has 20m-width hatch openings which are among the widest in handy class.
