180 Members of Holland Shipbuilding Association Presented Their Work at Europort 2011

Europort proved it again, this Dutch maritime trade fair is a worthwhile meeting place for the entire maritime sector. Over 30,000 maritime professionals from all over the world visited Europort from November 8 until 11. They represented all segments of the shipbuilding industry.

From naval to dredging and from fishery to offshore. Over 40 Dutch maritime companies presented themselves collective in the two Maritime by Holland Pavilions in Hall 1 and 8 and in total 180 members of Holland Shipbuilding Association were present all over the trade fair.

Mieke Bakker-Mantjes, Managing Director of Holland Shipbuilding Association, said: “From the number of exhibitors, you would not have noticed there is a crisis, the record was once again broken by Ahoy! However, the crisis was certainly the subject of discussion, mainly because so many things are happening in parallel in Europe right now.”

Advanced Technology Conferences

One of the absolute musts at Europort were the 6 Advanced Technology Conferences. 24 Companies presented there their newest technology developments. At almost every ATC all seats were taken. The following subsectors were discussed; Mega Yachts, Naval Specials, Workboats, Offshore, Inland Navigation, Construction Vessels.

Moritz Krijger, Managing Director of Alewijnse Marine Technology, was a speaker at one of the Advanced Technology Conferences. He emphasised the importance of advanced technologies in the European maritime industry: “Many of the technologies which are being shown at Europort are the result of collaborations within the industry. There is a definite need for innovations and for shows such as Europort to present them. It is here that we come into contact with shipyards, ship owners, ship designers and industrial partners.”

Green Route

With nearly 50 different participants of the Green Route, ´green´ oriented visitors of Europort could walk this green route and see the very latest sustainable products, innovations and vessels from the maritime industry.

Maritime by Holland networking reception

At the start of the evening of Thursday 10 November, the Holland Lounge in the Maritime by Holland Pavilion in hall 1 was the place to be. This was when the unique Maritime by Holland networking event started. The reception was well-attended by a various international public.
