Cargo Vessel Zolotaya Kolyma Waits for Icebreaking Assistance in Okhotsk Sea, Russia

 

General cargo vessel Zolotaya Kolyma loaded with coal has been waiting for an icebreaker at ice border in Okhotsk sea since December 24 to be taken to Magadan port.

The vessel required assistance on December 30 since fresh water is running out and the heating boiler broke down. Master of the vessel is asking either for icebreaker or permission to sail to one of the nearest ice free ports. The icebreaker Magadan was providing ice escort till jack-up Kolskaya tragedy. The vessel is now in Vladivostok under detention. The Zolotaya Kolyma dry cargo vessel owned by the Transit – Group, Vladivostok, is a large-capacity ship with the deadweight of 27 000 tons.
