India: Customs Detains SEAMEC II Vessel

Seamec Ltd has informed Bombay Stock Exchange that the SEAMEC II vessel was detained by the Customs for non production of the copy of the original Bill of Entry purported to have filed by the seller of the vessel, an Indian Corporate Entity, at the time of import in the year of 1988.

The Company had filed a Writ Petition against the order for provisional release of the Customs before Hon’ble High Court, Bombay who by order dated January 11, 2012, directed Customs to release the Vessel on fulfillment of certain obligations which have since been complied with. The vessel finally cleared by Customs on January 24, 2012.

The Vessel is in process to commence the Charter for ONGC for a long term period of 3 years.

The SEAMEC-II  is a multifunctional diving support vessel capable of working throughout the year in severe sea and weather conditions. The Vessel has the ability of performing a wide range of tasks.
