10 Years of RWE Dea UK

RWE Dea UK celebrates its 10 year anniversary: Looking back on a decade of successful exploration and production of natural gas in the United Kingdom. The company also expects significant growth in the next years.

RWE Dea UK Holdings Ltd has been the operating subsidiary of RWE Dea AG since 2002 and now looks back on ten years with successful milestone projects, concentrated in the Southern North Sea gas basin. “We can be proud of building up a successful and established company in London, one of the world’s leading hubs of the Oil and Gas Business”, says Ralf to Baben, Chief Operating Officer of RWE Dea AG.

The office located in central London manages the UK offshore operations of the company. In July 2007 production from the Cavendish field, RWE Dea’s first development project as operator in the United Kingdom, commenced. The Cavendish field was one of the building blocks in boosting RWE Dea’s gas sales levels in the UK. Moreover, in 2007 development of the Saturn Area was completed.

RWE Dea UK currently has interests in a total of ten producing gas fields and three under development and is operator of the Breagh, Clipper South, Cavendish, Windermere and Topaz gas fields.

In 2009, RWE Dea acquired the Breagh gas field, one of the largest natural gas discoveries under development in the UK Southern North Sea. “The expected reserves will make a significant contribution to the growth of RWE Dea’s gas production”, Rene Pawel, Managing Director of RWE Dea UK says. “We are now intensifying field development with the aim of starting production from the project in the second half of 2012” he adds. RWE Dea is operator with a 70% interest.

Further important development projects of the company are Clipper South, where recently the first development well was spudded (RWE Dea 50% interest and Operator), and Devenick (RWE Dea 11.3% interest, Operator BP). First gas from both projects is expected to flow mid-2012.
