New CEO for Afren. Shares jump

Afren plc, a London-listed independent oil and gas company with assets in Africa, will soon name a new CEO. The announcement caused the company’s shares to jump seven percent today.

In a London Stock Exchange filing today, the company confirmed media reports that Roc Oil’s Alan Linn is proposed to be appointed as the new CEO of the Company.

“Afren confirms that Alan Linn is currently acting as a consultant to the Board of Directors and that it has agreed in principle with Mr Linn for him to be appointed as Afren’s new CEO and a director of the Company with effect from completion of the interim funding, which is expected to occur imminently. A further announcement will be made in due course as appropriate.”

To remind, in October last year, Afren fired its Chief Executive Officer Osman Shahenshah for accepting unauthorised payments from third parties. Toby Hayward has been the company’s Interim-CEO ever since.
