Centrica welcomes new director

UK energy company Centrica has announced that Stephen Hester will be appointed as a non-executive Director of the company.

Centrica announced on Wednesday that Hester will be appointed as a non-executive Director effective June 1. In addition, he will also become a member of Centrica’s Nominations and Audit Committees.

Rick Haythornthwaite, Chairman of Centrica said: “I am delighted to welcome Stephen to the Board as a non-executive Director.  His wide-ranging commercial experience, particularly in customer-facing businesses, together with his recognized expertise in transforming performance will be of significant benefit to the Board as we implement our strategy.“

He further added that Hester brings a broad understanding of financial services and FTSE100 businesses and a deep knowledge of operating within highly regulated businesses.

The company stated that in accordance with obligations under Listing Rule 9.6.13R, Hester still holds or has held in the last five years directorships of publicly quoted companies, specifically the RSA Insurance Group and The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
