GALLERY: Teekay expands Canadian shuttle tanker fleet

Teekay Offshore has taken delivery of the second Heritage Class shuttle tanker which will be used to ship Canada’s Atlantic Ocean offshore oil.

Teekay said on Wednesday that final preparations were ongoing and that the vessel would soon start its voyage to St John’s, Canada.

The vessel Norse Spirit joined the already delivered shuttle tanker Beothuk Spirit with the third vessel, the Dorset Spirit, expected to be delivered in early 2018.

According to Teekay, the new shuttle tankers will provide crude transportation services to the Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose and Hebron offshore oil fields located in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.

They will replace two in-charters and one owned vessel currently servicing a 15-year, plus extension options, contract with a group of companies that includes Chevron Canada, Exxon Mobil, Husky Energy, Mosbacher Operating Ltd., Murphy Oil, Nalcor Energy, Statoil, and Suncor Energy.
