UK: Fugro GEOS Expands Riser Monitoring Equipment Pool

Business & Finance

With oil operators clarifying their strategies for riser and wellhead fatigue management, Fugro GEOS has experienced a substantial increase in demand for subsea instrumentation.

To meet these new levels of demand, and to satisfy the short lead times required by clients, the pool of key equipment is being expanded with increased stocks of:

– DeepData Units

– DeepData Buckets (for recovery and redeployment of DeepData Units)

– -Subsea Strain Gauge Bracelets

– Subsea Cable (for cabled solutions)

– Data Acquisition Computers (for cabled solutions)

DeepData is Fugro’s versatile, modular subsea data acquisition system which collects structural related data (motions and strain) in water depths up to 2500m. It can be supplied in a standard configuration or configured to clients’ requirements and the system options are:

– Self-logging – data logged to an internal memory for subsequent analysis, either after recovery of the riser or by ROV recovery

– Real-time – data transferred to a topside computer (cable or modem) and displayed in real-time for comparison against allowable limits

An ongoing programme of development and investment is set to strengthen Fugro GEOS’ position in this market sector. An extensive pool of high quality instrumentation will enable the company to meet the growing needs and shortening timescales of clients and complements Fugro’s world-leading pool of ADCP current measurement systems, used extensively in the offshore drilling industry.
