Petroplan, the global recruiter for the oil and gas industry, has opened a new London office in addition to its existing UK offices in Guildford and Aberdeen.

Petroplan Opens New Office in London

Simon Bell, previously managing director at major recruitment firm Michael Page, has been brought in to head up both the London and Guildford offices.

Simon Bell will be based in the new office along with an initial team of 10 people, expected to grow rapidly. Under Simon’s direction, the London office will become a centre of excellence with a focus on the disciplines of Subsea, Subsurface, Wells and Drilling, and EPCs. The London office will also be more focused on the placement of permanent roles, as well as broader commercial roles within the energy sector such as those in marketing and finance.

The new office is based in Waterloo, a central location with convenient transport links to airports and Petroplan’s headquarters in Guildford. The opening of the London office marks the latest chapter in a period of expansion for Petroplan, following hot on the heels of the opening of its first African office in Cape Town, South Africa, in November 2013.

Simon Bell, Regional Director – Specialist Disciplines at Petroplan, comments: “It makes perfect sense for a global recruiter such as Petroplan to have a presence in one of the world’s foremost corporate hubs, where many of our clients have offices themselves. It will enable us to hire the brightest and best from London’s impressive talent pool, and will provide a natural base from which to build and grow Petroplan’s service offering. Our expanded presence within the UK will allow us to provide an even higher quality of service to our clients, both UK-based and international.

“Crucially though, this move signals how serious Petroplan is about utilising its decades of industry experience to expand beyond its core specialism. The London office is the first brick in our quest to build the world’s best recruitment company in the energy space, servicing the total workforce needs of the entire sector in addition to the technical needs of oil and gas companies.”
