TEAMER adds commercialization support for marine energy developers

U.S. Testing Expertise and Access for Marine Energy Research (TEAMER) has introduced a new support category focused on commercialization, marking an expansion of its long-running program that has so far centered on testing services for marine energy technologies.

The initiative provides business-focused assistance to the existing network of U.S. research facilities, which offer numerical modeling, lab and bench testing, basin and flume work, and open-water trials.

According to TEAMER, technical progress alone is not enough to move devices to market. The shift from R&D to commercial deployment requires expertise in financing, business strategy, regulatory planning, community engagement, and investor outreach.

Through the TEAMER Facility Network, organizations including Environmental Science Associates, Factor Growth, Rare Innovation, VentureWell, and yet2 are now available to support topics such as funding continuity, financial management, market identification, IP strategy, business development, marine energy education, and investor engagement.

“Good news: through TEAMER’s Facility Network, fully vetted organizations are available to help you navigate this daunting shift from R&D to market entry,” TEAMER said.

Commercialization support will be available in all future requests for technical support, starting with the current round open until February 6, 2026.

In July, Texas-based 3U TECHNOLOGIES was added to the TEAMER facility network. The company’s support types include non-open water testing, expertise-based advisory, and numerical modelling and analysis.
