Worley embarks on more FEED work for Cypriot gas development

Project & Tenders

Australia’s engineering player Worley has been appointed by U.S.-headquartered oil major Chevron to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) and procurement services for the first offshore gas development in Cyprus.

Under the contract with Chevron Cyprus, Worley will provide FEED engineering across the full Aphrodite field development, including subsea systems, the floating production unit (FPU), export gas pipeline and onshore receiving facilities, as well as procurement services for equipment associated with the FPU and onshore facilities.

The contract, to be delivered under a reimbursable engineering and procurement contract, builds on the company’s pre‑FEED for the project and bridging phase work delivered during 2025, with this next stage expected to be completed by December.

Worley said it would perform the work through its Global Integrated Delivery model, with teams across five countries to be involved.

Situated 160 kilometers south of Limassol and 30 kilometers northwest of Leviathan, the Aphrodite field lies in an area where the sea depth is 1,700 meters. While it was discovered by the A-1 well in September 2011, the A-2 appraisal well, drilled in 2013, confirmed approximately 98 billion cubic meters (bcm) of contingent resource with a potential for an additional 26 bcm of prospective resources.

Cyprus approved a production license in Block 12 for 25 years in November 2019. First gas is expected in 2032.

“We are pleased to continue our long‑standing relationship with Chevron, drawing on our global gas development expertise and Global Integrated Delivery model to support the progression of this strategically important energy project,” said Chris Ashton, Chief Executive Officer of Worley.
