After TechnipFMC, Eni brings OneSubsea onboard Côte d’Ivoire project

OneSubsea, a joint venture backed by SLB, Aker Solutions and Subsea7, has secured a multi-well engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Eni for the third phase of an oil & gas development project off the coast of Côte d’Ivoire.

SLB OneSubsea will deliver complete subsea production systems (SPS) for 13 wells for Phase 3 of the deepwater Baleine project. Alongside the existing developments, Phase 3 will increase total field production from 60,000 to 150,000 barrels per day and gas output from 80 to 200 million cubic feet per day, making the project one of the largest offshore energy developments in West Africa.

The EPC scope covers subsea trees, umbilical, manifolds, multiphase flowmeters and control systems, as well as installation, commissioning and life-of-field support.

According to SLB, an integrated delivery model is designed to streamline execution and support the project’s fast-track development schedule.

Project execution will be supported by the company’s in-country presence and local capabilities.

“Baleine Phase 3 brings together scale and execution certainty,” said Mads Hjelmeland, Chief Executive Officer of SLB OneSubsea. “Through our subsea production system technology and by leveraging our established local presence, we are supporting Eni’s efforts to advance a complex, deepwater project efficiently while contributing to the long-term development of offshore resources in Côte d’Ivoire.”

The final investment decision (FID) for the Baleine Phase 3 development was made in May. The project entails the development of a new floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit, to be delivered by Altera Infrastructure. TechnipFMC has been selected to design and manufacture flexible flowlines and risers for the project.

As for OneSubsea, the company recently secured what is described as one of the largest umbilical contracts awarded in the industry to date, for a field development project in Indonesian waters.
