Naming ceremony held for new LNG carrier built by Samsung Heavy Industries

A naming ceremony has been held in South Korea for a new LNG carrier owned by Japanese Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” LINE) and Toho Gas.

The naming ceremony took place at a Samsung Heavy Industries facility in South Korea on September 9 for the vessel named Toho Emerald, owned through a joint venture of “K” Line and Toho LNG Shipping, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toho Gas.

The T.K. LNG Shipping Pte. Ltd. joint venture was established in Singapore to own LNG carriers and engage in LNG transportation.

According to “K” Line, the vessel is equipped with an ME-GA dual-fuel engine designed to operate primarily on LNG. It is approximately 290 meters long, with a beam of circa 45.8 meters, and has a tank capacity of 174,000 m3.

Vessel delivery is expected in October.
