China: CIC Boluomiao Shipyard Redelivers Three Successfully Repaired Ships

 

 

In late June, the ships “New Champion”, “An Ping 5”, “Peng Hua” were successfully repaired and redelivered by Boluomiao Shipyard. The shipyard with in a spirit of “weather change but repair period same”, overcome the difficulties by the rain, heat and others to complete the repair works.

The ship “New Champion” entered into the shipyard on May 24, 2011 with lots of steel plates to be renewed which included cargo hold inner bottom plate, double bottom plate, hatch plates, fore peak tank plate. The shipyard made timely deployments, requiring the departments to focus on “fight the second quarter, change to win” objectives, mobilize staff solidarity, spirit, creating good atmosphere. The hull workshop organized 14 teams to carry out the work contest, and reward a good team who was well done in the safety, quality and progress. The ship owner hired a foreign experts working in the technical quality for each project. The shipyard made a variety of measures to maintain the repaired quality. For insuring the process, ship owners led the officer to inspect on spot personally, after their checking, high thumbs-up to the workers. Six double bottom tank water and all hatch covers tightness tests were well finished on June 27, 2011, and the ship was redelivered on June 28, the ship owner were very satisfied with the repair service.

The ship “Peng Hua” was redelivered on June 29, 2011. The repair work included No.2 –No.5 double bottom plate recovery and No.6, No.7 cargo hold plate renewal. Since many positions of the double bottom need strengthening and scattered in wide area, large quantities but the space was quite small, only the bracket plate of the double bottom reinforcement reached 286 pieces, the bottom plate up to 110 meters need recovered, and these jobs need to be completed in the floating dock. All professional workers had been working hard day and night, so the project were safely, high quality and on schedule finished.

During the repair period of the ship “An Ping 5”, the shipyard set the hatch cover repair work and the machinery work as the key project. The ship arrived at the shipyard in the afternoon of June 11, in that evening the hatch covers were lifted to shore, and the shipyard used of limited shelves for metal work; while the labor for construction of other projects were also actively organized. Since the shipyard was at peak production period, the wharf was at full capacity, there were a lot of works in the engine room, so the workshop of the yard timely adjusted labors and worked 24 hours a day to finish the repair. During the hatch cover painting, the weather in Guangzhou was unpredictable, so the managers paid close attention to the weather changes, the arranged sand blasting and painting as soon as possible in the limited sunny time to get the time for the hatch cover test. At last, the ship was in time redelivered to the owner on June 28, 2011.
