ABS expands in India to meet ‘growing demand’

ABS, a provider of classification services to the global marine and offshore industries, has announced an expansion of its captive delivery center in Pune, India.

The company explained on Monday that the expansion was due to demand growth for the ABS Nautical Systems Software that spurred hiring.

ABS also said that the move to the new Tech Park One location will accommodate the addition of professional software developers who will expedite product development.

Anindya Talukdar, ABS Managing Director in Pune, said that the knowledge base that ABS has built in Pune not only codes and creates support for earlier versions of the software but also develops web and mobile versions of NS software using newer tools and technology.

“We are excited about our local growth and the opportunity to recruit top technology personnel to support our innovation, data analytics, data governance, development, quality analysis, customer support and global consulting opportunities,” said Talukdar.

Howard Fireman, Nautical Systems President and Chief Technology Officer of ABS, said that the increasing global demand for NS software has led to the strategic decision to grow the ABS India operation.

The marine and offshore industries seek software that improves efficiency, easily enables compliance in an increasingly complex regulatory environment and is accessible on desktop and mobile devices.

“Our aggressive product development plan includes expanding our global footprint to meet this growing need, and the Pune office expansion is a critical part of that process,” added Fireman.
