Absoft, Ross Offshore Team Up to Improve Drilling Processes

Leading independent SAP consultancy and software provider Absoft has secured a deal to support Norway-based drilling consultancy and project management services firm Ross Offshore AS to develop systems which improve efficiencies in drilling and completion projects by 60%.

Ross Offshore AS and Absoft have combined expertise to develop an online portal optimising the performance of drilling and well operations in upstream oil and gas, using SAP business software.

The portal streamlines activities and processes across projects by defining roles, responsibilities and ownership of drilling and well operations ranging from planning equipment and service requirements, procurement, warehousing and offshore activities, for all personnel.

Absoft was chosen to handle licensing and technical installation of SAP to complement Ross Offshore AS’ extensive experience in drilling and well operations with operators and oilfield service companies in the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The deal is Absoft’s first license agreement in Norway and Scott Simpson, the company’s oil and gas business unit director, said: “This is a significant contract win, which strengthens our position on the Norwegian oil and gas market.

“It’s a great boost for the business following our investment in offices in Stavanger, and achievement of SAP partner status in Norway, authorising us to resell SAP Business-All-in-One and SAP BusinessObjects products.”

Absoft’s expertise in SAP and upstream oil and gas were decisive factors in Ross Offshore AS’ decision to partner with the company. Håvard Kalvatn, lead consultant at Ross Offshore AS, said: “We chose Absoft for this project due to their technical expertise of SAP in upstream oil and gas.
