Adriatic LNG issues single cargo tender

Italy’s Adriatic LNG, the operator of the LNG import terminal offshore of Porto Levante, launched a tender for next winter’s peak shaving service.

Adriatic LNG is looking for the supply of one liquefied natural gas cargo with a capacity of 60,000- 65,000 cubic meters, the company revealed in an emailed statement to LNG World News.

The tender will close on November 13 while the cargo will have to be unloaded in December this year, according to the  statement.

Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development has selected Adriatic LNG terminal for peak shaving service as a measure that is part of the “Emergency Plan” aimed at facing possible emergencies and guaranteeing the security of the national gas system.

Peak shaving is aimed at making available the previously stored gas in order to meet possible peaks in demand during wintertime.

Adriatic LNG facility is located in the northern Adriatic Sea, about 15 kilometers off the Veneto coastline, where it is set on the sea floor. It is co-owned by ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum.
