AHT FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION Assists Drifting Vessel in Shipping Lane of English Channel

 

On the early evening of August 10th 2011, Capt. W.A. van der Kort onboard Ocean Going Salvage AHT FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION was requested to change course to assist a drifting vessel in the shipping lane of the English channel, by Dover Coastguard. During bad weather ,container vessel MV KATJA suffered a technical failure and her crew was unsuccessful to make prompt repairs.

Ocean Going Salvage AHT FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION immediately mobilized towards MV KATJA and Capt. W.A. van der Kort and his crew successfully connected a towingline to MV KATJA and commenced towage towards Dover in the late evening August 10th.

Around day break the convoy arrived at Dover roads, where they awaited the harbor tugs to take over MV Katja. Once the harbor tugs made fast to MV Katja, FAIRMOUNT EXPEDITION was released and continued mobilizing to her next assignment.
