Aker BP restructures remaining options for Prosafe’s accommodation rig

In addition, the first of the one-week options has been exercised, Prosafe said on Friday announcing the deal.

The total value of the option is approximately $1 million with operations continuing into early-May 2019. Prosafe added that the Safe Scandinavia will be available for charter from late May 2019.

Aker BP signed a contract with Prosafe to use the Safe Scandinavia for accommodation support at the Ula offshore platform back in July 2018. The contract, which started in mid-August 2018, was for seven months with eight one-month options.

In February 2019, Aker BP exercised the first of eight one-month options to extend the charter of the Safe Scandinavia flotel. The total value of the option was $4.5 million.

The Ula field is located in the southern part of the North Sea, northwest of the Ekofisk field, and consists of three platforms. The field center serves as an area hub for the satellite field Tambar, and as a third-party host for the Oselvar and Blane fields.

The Safe Scandinavia was constructed in 1984 at Aker Verdal to an Aker H-3.2E design and has a maximum accommodation capacity of 583 beds.
